order of the phoenix movie review

Tonight I finally got to see OotP and here are my thoughts. Under a cut for spoilers.

I usually review things, listing things I liked and things I didn't like but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that this time becase there wasn't really anything I felt was extra good or extra bad. But anyways, knowing me it'll probably end up something like that anyway.

For starters I have to say that I recently re-read the 3rd and 4th books and then watched the movies again, and with the books in fresh memore I was extra annoyed with the movies and how fast they were skipping through things, never taking the time to let a scene last for long. I'm assuming it's because they want to include as much as possible of the books in the movies, so I guess it's understandable but it's also a little annoying accoring to me when the movies feel like "Harry Potter and the XXXX" BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. The end! I always get the feeling that when they jump through scenes that fast it's difficult for people who hasn't read the books to understand what's going on. But then again, I can't know for sure seeing as I have read the books.

So, having said that - what I like about the 5th film is that it felt slower (that sounds terrible, but I swear it's a good thing!). They let the scenes take their time and play out niceley, so it never felt rushed. And because of that they had to exclude certain things from the movie, but I thought it was worth it rather than rushing through everything. Even though they skipped a few parts they managed to get information from that scene into the movie in a different way, so I still felt most of the important stuff was there, in somce way.

They could have made the movie longer though! Even though they managed to inclube most important things I still wanted to see more of pretty much every character, especially Malfoy, Tonks (who I didn't expect to like but found was really good for the role!) and Luna. Ron could also have been in the movie more, but from a Ron p.o.v this was by far the best movie. He was really Ron (I don't think he has been in the last 2 movies) and Rupert did some fantastic acting! And the shipper in me had to squee a little during some of those cute looks Ron and Hermione shared througout the movie.

One thing I didn't really like was the battle with the Death Eaters towards the end. It was really well done and all, but it just wasn't like I imagined it, and that was the part where the missing scenes from the book annoyed me the most. I didn't like how they did Sirius' death either, "Avada Kedavra" wasn't what killed him (at least I don't think so. It said "jet of red light" in the book, we all know Avada Kedavra is green!) but yet they had Bellatrix use that spell on him in the movie and instead of the instant death we saw with Cedrig he sorta stumbles around and then falls through the veil. It just bothered me.

So yeah, that's sort of it I guess...! For now anyway, I've probably missed something I wanted to say. Before I thought the HP movies just kept getting worse but this one was really good, and of the 5 that's been released I think this one is probably my favourite (I might have to watch it a few more times just to make sure!) closley followed by the 1st and 2nd film! I did read a couple of bad reviews of the movie last week though and they gave me very low expectations of this movie, which might have made me think the movie was better than I would have thought otherwise.

I totally agree.

Trodde inte heller att jag skulle gilla Tonks, but I did. :P
