No clicking if you don't want to be spoiled!
So, Supernatural. I've heard great things about it but never watched it - until now! And last nights episode wasn't a dissapointment but it didn't really live up to the expectations the Swedish promo gave either. It seems like a really cool show though so I'll continue watching for a while before I make up my mind about it. It seemed to me like a combination of Buffy and X-Files...? And also, I've never been a big fan of Jared Padalecki but I liked him better here than in Gilmore Girls. If you make me chose between the brothers it would easily be Dean though!
What I liked:
+ Dean!!! <3
+ The Mulder/Scully quote (yeah, I'm not a bigX-files Scully fan but I have seen the show, the reference was funny!)
+ The Lady in White - ok she wasn't really scary, but I found her intresting... if that makes sense :/
Some things I wanted to comment on:
- In the opening scene where their mom runs back to Sam's room when she realizes it wasn't her husband who was in the room... It bugged me a little because if it was me I'd probably have my husband go with me to feel safer if there was an unknown man in my baby's bedroom. But I don't know... She probably just wanted to protect her son and didn't have time to think of/do anything else. And I also do realize the whole story is based on her going up there alone.
- The death of Jess.
Not really unexpected because I knew Sam would be going with Dean and Jess was one of the few things keepeing him from going. And I know how Dean and Sam talked about Sam not really remembering their mom and I get that he needs another reason to go with Dean and search for the truth about what happened to their mom and now Jess too... I didn't like Jess' character, and therefore I didn't mind her death, but now I get the feeling that Dean and Sam are doing this for different reasons which might lead to problems later on... This is just me thinking - those of you who knows what happens, please don't tell me!
Yeah, I know I'm probably the last person on earth to watch this... But I put it behind a cut, just to be safe!
I know a lot of people were dissapointed in this episode, but I'm not one of them! I usually read spoilers (yeah I'm on the dark side!) so I had a pretty good idea of what would be happeneing in this episode already... But in the last couple of days there has been soooo many spoilers around, concering this episode so I gave up on them and decided to watch with no expectatios of anything. Also both Went and SWC said in interwievs that "the rendezvous is probably not what the fans want/expect" so that also kept my expectations lower.
the +
+ Michael/Sara rendezvous!
I thought it was really cute! I read somewhere before I watched that there were no moments between them at all, so maybe that lowered my expectations. But there were lots of cute moments according to me, like early season one moments. They have to rebuild their relationship again, so to me that makes sense. I thought the reunion was handeled well though, a hug/kiss or whatever wasn't needed to show that they obviously still care about each other but I understand that Sara is too upset right now for anything to happen between them. For me it was perfect for now!
+ Emotional Michael. Like when he found out Sara's dad was dead, or when Sara left... :(
+ The Michael/Mahone scenes. I liked how even Mahone notices that they are kinda similar but that there's still a big difference between them.
+ Sara leaving
Yeah it get's a +, because I like how it was done! I guess I would have liked her to stay, though I'm actually not sure... But the important things are - she wrote a note where she said she was sorry, why would she if she didn't care about Michael? And she changed her mind about going. I loved it because it showed her inner conflict - she wants to be with Michael but she hasn't forgiven him yet.
the -
- Sucre! Don't get me wrong, I love Sucre but his storyline right now is getting old. It's been the same for several episodes now "I wanna talk to Maricruz" and then "oh, you JUST missed her!" Something new needs to happen or he'll start loosing points with me.
- The Fax
Seriously, how stupid is Michael?! I mean come on, he goes though all the trouble coding messages to Sara on these cranes and all of a sudden he sends her a fax with an exact time and location for their meeting?! He must have known others could read it. And like Mac from VM lets us know "a digital file can never be entirely destroyed" - Michael seems like a person who'd know about this, and he must have known there would be a way for Mahone (or someone else) to get their hands on his message if he faxed it to her. I liked how Sara looked in the mail box to se if he put somethign there that would lead her somewhere else, that would have made more sense to me, because then Sara would be the only onw to know the location, but no...
- The Double Agent
Ok, when that Jane(?) lady said "We're on your side" I immediatley thought "and one of you are on both sides!". And - big surprise! or not - one of them were... That was just way too predictable!
- Kellerman with a gun pointed at Sara! NOO!
the ~ (aka can't decide if I liked this or not!)
~ Sara's reaction to the Panama thing. I understand how she must feel, after everythign that's happened to her because of Michael running off to Panama probably doesn't seem like a great idea. But what did she expect?
So there was some good and some bad but this far I still think this is one of my favourite season 2 episodes!
Off topic: Whoa, I think this is like my longest post ever...! I just had to get it out though! ;) Now I'm soon gonna watch House - yeah, I know I'm crazy when it comes to TV! ;)
